He should go to Robie Camps too


I agree that there's no harm in showing up in the wrestling room: practices are open. Coaches may or may not let him practice a bit with the team. Still, no harm either way. No one will ever fault a wrestler for ambition.

But I would also strongly suggest that he plan on attending one or more week-long sessions of Robies camps next summer - especially the tougher 30-man camps. Then he is in the room non-stop with the wrestlers and coaches everyday, with real opportunities to interact and learn from them. Best case scenario: he learns a lot and shows enough that the coaches would consider him as a preferred walk-on type. Worst case scenario: he learns a lot and comes away understanding how much harder he needs to work to get to the next level - which, if he has more HS years left - will make him a better HS wrestler.

They also have a couple long weekend camps during the school year which could give him a big boost for his HS season. All that info is on-line.
